Verona Airport

Verona Villafranca Airport, also known as Valerio Catullo Airport or Villafranca Airport, is located at 10 km southwest of Verona, Italy. The airport is situated next to the junction of A4 Milan-Venice and A22 Modena-Brenner motorways. It serves a population of more than 4 million inhabitants in the provinces of Verona, Brescia, Mantua (Mantova) and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. The airport works together with the Brescia-Montichiari Airport under the name Aeroporti Sistema del Garda.

Airport Terminals and Airlines

Two terminals, one handles arrivals only and the other is for departures. Verona airport is served by a good number of airlines, offering multiple destinations. Some of them are Aegean, Air Lingus, Aeroflot, Air Dolomiti, Air Moldova, Air Prishtina, Alitalia, Blu Express, Blue Panorama Airlines, British Airways, Cyprus Air, EasyJet, Ernest Airlines, Eurowings, Flyone, Flybe, Jet2, Lufthansa, Neos, Norwegian, Nouvelair, Ryanair, SAS, S7 Airlines, Transavia and Volotea.

Airport Services and Facilities

Verona is a small airport with a relatively limited range of shops and snack bars. However the ones available at the airport, do offer a good variety of food and drinks. Duty Free is available as well as a small selection of clothing, accessories and convenience shops in the Departures Terminal. There are no shops in the Arrival Terminal though.

When the airport gets pretty, busy you must wait a long time for your baggage. There is a window for lost and found items as well and there is a general information counter in the Arrivals Hall along with a window for the Tourism Bureau. Travelers with heavy luggage should be aware that if they are assessed an excess baggage fee, they will have to leave the check-in line to pay the fee at another desk, and then return to the check-in line in order to receive their boarding passes. If this is the case with you, try and arrive a bit early at the airport, so you have enough time.

Except for a few basic services such as fax and telephone, at the service counter there are no business facilities at this airport. The terminal is reasonably accessible for the disabled, and there are adapted restrooms. You can also ask for assistance at the service counter. There are free parking spaces reserved for the disabled next to the terminal.

There are ATM's in the Arrivals Hall and First Aid is also available. Forexchange offers currency exchange services and can be found at the Arrivals Terminal, landside. Free Wi-Fi and dedicated charging areas are available in both Terminals. In the Departures Terminal you will find charging points both Landside and Airside, whereas the Arrivals Terminal only provides charging areas Landside.

The Departure Terminal is open 24 hours a day. The Arrivals Terminal is open 6:00AM – 11:00PM (or until the last arrival of the day). Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door or through a lounge membership program (ie. Priority Pass). If you are planning for an overnight stay, the airport gets quiet after 10:00 PM. Armrests are set on every 2nd seat, so you can lay across them, but not very comfortably. You may be more comfortable sleeping on the floor if you have a sleeping bag or travel mat handy. For uninterrupted sleep and a good rest before your next flight, do note that there are hotels near the airport, so make sure to book your room in advance.

Ground Transportation

There is no train connection with the airport. A bus goes to the station in Verona, from this station there are train connections with Brescia, Mantova, Trento and Rovereto, the station is a 20 minute walk from the city center. In addition, an Aerobus leaves every 20 minutes from the terminal to Verona Central Station (Porta Nuova).

In addition to this public transportation option (or perhaps paying for a taxi service), you can also book a reliable door-to-door private transportation with UpTransfers, carried out with a modern fleet of fully licensed and insured vehicles, and be welcomed at the airport by an English-speaking driver - an excellent choice for traveling with style.
